Training on hate speech for journalists

The training on hate speech for journalists was held on June 19, 2013 in the GEM club in Skopje. The training was designed for journalists participating in USAID’s Strengthening Media in Macedonia – Fact Checking Service Component, implemented by Metamorphosis. The four-hour training was attended by 10 journalists who were familiarized with the case law of the European Court of Human Rights in specific cases related to hate speech, cases from Macedonia and from the world, and a number of related laws and regulations were also analyzed. The training was conducted by Zarko Trajanoski, MA in Human Rights. Materials used for the training:

Announcement: Hiring media discourse analysts

Metamorphosis Foundation is publishing an announcement for temporary engagement of media discourse analysts as part of USAID’s Strengthening Media in Macedonia Project – Media Fact-Checking Service Component, intended for publishing journalist reviews, analysеs and educational texts.
The members of the team of analysts have the following tasks:
  • identify cases of violation of professional journalistic standards in the media, including human rights
  • violations or violations of trends in the quality of the work of the media in a broader context;
  • conduct analyses based on a critical analysis of discourses in such cases.
Candidates for members of the team should meet the following criteria:
  • to be knowledgeable in the field of human rights (professional engagement, education, non-governmental work);
  • to be experienced in

Metamorphosis Foundation is publishing an announcement for temporary engagement of journalists – reviewers as part of USAID’s Strengthening Media in Macedonia Project – Media Fact-Checking Service Component, intended for publishing journalist reviews, critical discourse analysеs and journalist lessons. Journalists-reviewers will be part of the team of journalists who will be identifying important daily news, conducting reviews of such content and occasionally write longer articles for public educationregarding the implementation of journalist standards. Candidates should meet the following criteria:
  • graduates in the field of journalism, communications or a related field;
  • their professional media engagement is based on the Code of Journalists of Macedonia or any other equivalent code of ethical and professional standards adopted by the relevant organization of journalists

Request for bids: Web-interface design for the Media Fact-Checking Service

Metamorphosis, as an organization implementing USAID’s Strengthening Media in Macedonia Project – Media Fact-Checking Service Component, is announcing a competition for bidders for a design solution for the interface of a website for publishing journalist reviews, critical discourse analysis and journalist lessons. The project, supported by the American people, aims to empower Macedonian citizens to hold the media accountable, and to assist journalists in the implementation of their professional standards, by providing online tools and resources for public education and awareness raising.
